Teachers are the most important people in the society. Dr.Ahmed Khalid Tawfiq, an Arab writer, once wrote: “when I was a child, I wanted to be an officer, then I grew up, and I wanted to be a administration inspector- and this is not a joke- it took me forty years to understand that teaching is the most important job in the universe, and that a teacher is the one who makes the officer, the doctors and the administration inspector”. That makes teachers in a sensitive position, so what makes a good teacher?
In fact, there are several characters a teacher should obtain. One of them is to be trustful and kind. Such character helps in reducing the gap between a teacher and his students. A teacher should be also patient, respectable with self confident, dealing with students from different backgrounds necessitate having such characters.
There are also other characters that helps defining a good teacher. A teacher should be qualified. That means that he should have proper education and a good degree. He should also have some knowledge in different aspects of life, and in the various parts of science. A teacher should also promote independence in learning, and try to personalize instructions.
In conclusion, teachers must understand the important role they play, not only in society, but also in individuals lives.
