Why is it important for a writer to acknowledge his/her sources of information?

The most of the writers develop or explain an idea in their writes. And this idea didn’t come from nowhere. Maybe it comes from an experience they had in their life. Or maybe they took the main idea from another book, magazine or even a newspaper. And they started to develop this idea and explain it by their own words and mention their opinions about it.
It is important to the writer to acknowledge his source of information to save its copyright. And that makes him an honest reliable writer because he didn’t steal others thoughts. And to reduce the chance of plagiarism.

Also to be accurate in the information they give. They must have a trusted source of information that the reader can rely on. And not to give mistaken ideas.
Moreover, some readers like to read more about the idea they like to increase their information about it. And when they find the reference in the book, they look up for the book they like and read more and more about it.

I think that these are the main reasons to acknowledge the source of the information to the writer.
